Keeping the past – for the future

Since our founding in 1987 the society has worked to document, preserve and share the local history of Hol municipality. We bring forward old traditions, cultural heritage and ways of life, and we share knowledge through meetings, guided walks and publications.

The yearbook Under Hallingskarvet has been published annually since 2005, and is one of our most important contributions to strengthening local history interest in Hallingdal. The society has also cleared old routes, recorded cultural heritage sites, collected place names and interviewed elders to secure valuable memories for coming generations.

With consistently more than 400 members we are a lively and inclusive community. We invite you along – whether you want to join a cultural walk, leaf through old photographs or contribute a story of your own.
